Cake design!

Ho partecipato a un seminario con la grande artista del cake design Michelle Winowo, segnalata tra i cento artigiani artisti da "tenere d'occhio" dal Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra.
Michelle lavora per alcuni colossi mondiali, fa torte spaziali e lavora a Londra. Fa ritratti iper realistici tratti da fotografie, e realizza questi ritratti con pan di spagna e pasta di zucchero!
Dopo una giornata di circa 10 ore di lavoro, ecco la mia creazione
(10 ore perche' soprattutto la prima parte e' stata un po' lentina, a causa del tentativo di Michelle di dare spiegazioni singole ed esaustive).
Devo dire che la mia manualita' non mi ha abbandonata, ne' una certa abilita' nel riprodurre fattezze e volti....nonostante la parte dedicata alla pittura finale sia stata velocissima perche' ci stavano buttando fuori dal posto dove facevamo lezione!!!!
Quando ero bambina amavo disegnare, e mi piaceva riprodurre fotografie di volti in scala , senza minimamente conoscere il metodo che usa la classica griglia per ingrandire. E' stato tornare un po' bambina riscoprire questa attivita'. Molto rilassante! L'anno scorso avevo ricominciato a dipingere, con l'aiuto di una pittrice davvero fantastica .

 I attended a seminar with the great artist of the cake design Michelle Winowo , reported among the hundred artisans artists  from the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.
Michelle works for some global giants, makes cakes for them and works in London. Her hyper realistic portraits are taken from photographs, and implemented in sponge cake and sugar paste!

After a day of about 10 hours of work, here is my creation
(10 hours' cause especially the first part has been a bit slow, because of Michelle's attempt to explain individually) I must say that my crafts did not abandone me, it's a certain ability I had when I was a child, so it has been fun to find I still have it in some sense ...like going back to childwood I must say! and very relaxing too. Despite the lack of time we suffered at the end of the seminar day, because the place had to close while we were still working !

When I was a child I used to copy photographs of faces (or even landscapes) in scale , without the classic grid which usually helps to enlarge. Last year I started painting again, with the help of a really great painter ( my cousin!- and so who knows.... I might try to put all this into cake design! ahahaha
